Nigel is a Registered Massage Therapist who has graduated from Centennial College in Fitness & Health Promotion and the Massage Therapy Program. During his college career he competed on the Men’s Varsity Soccer Team and received recognition from the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association for Academic Honours.
Nigel has always considered himself a multi-sport athlete but nothing compares to his passion for soccer. He began playing at the age of four - progressing each year to some of the highest levels in the province. This was great exposure to many learning opportunities as he was always fascinated by the rehabilitation and training aspects of being an athlete. Sam is primarily an “orthopaedic-focused” physiotherapist having worked with children as young as 5 years old to patiently working alongside 95 year old seniors. He just loves working alongside people and is dedicated to helping anyone at all levels to achieve their optimal performance and recover from injuries.
Sam’s educational background includes a Honours Bachelor degree in Neuroscience Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University before completing his Masters in Physical Therapy from University of Toronto in 2010. Prior to joining the MetaTherapy team, Sam was the owner at A.O.G. Physiotherapy (2011-2021) specializing in orthopaedics and sports physiotherapy working very closely with fencers in the Toronto Fencing Club in North York. Many of his fencing clients (from children to seniors) competed recreationally, provincially and even at international levels (including the Olympics). He also has extensive experience working alongside collegiate basketball players, 9-Men volleyball players, recreational ice hockey players, youth club soccer players, weightlifters, club swimmers and post-surgical patients.
As a physiotherapist, his approach to treatment is highly personalized, taking into account the unique needs and goals of each person. Sam’s areas of expertise include injury prevention, rehabilitation from muscular injuries, and strength/stretch training to optimize their performance while considering life factors that may require rehabilitation protocols to be modified accordingly.
